Knowing Us

My boyfriend and I decided to spend one of our evenings getting to know each other instead of watching a movie. These are the questions we found in which we both gave our answers. It was fun hearing the differences in our answers so I thought it would be fun to share it. Enjoy the read! :-)

What event in history would you like to witness if you were able to go back in time?

Justina

Justina: Uh...this is hard! There's too much! Noah's Ark.....dinosaurs.....that would be cool.
Chasen: You would scream, I would have to duct tape your mouth. You would get us both killed.
Justina: Yeah I would freak out, it would be so cool. Okay, I got it. The first alien landing.

Chasen

Chasen: The Big Bang, 'cause I want to see the beginning of everything essentially, it's the moment of time where you had these basic components that created life and everything we know to exist in our universe.

What's the most irresponsible thing you've ever done?

Chasen

Chasen: Mm...most irresponsible would have to be urban exploration. My friends and I snuck onto a closed construction site at night and uh clearly we weren't allowed on the property 'cause there was security in the premises. So basically we explored the premises wearing nothing but black and the building before it's completion. Basically we were trespassing.

Justina

Justina: Going to America and getting into a strangers car. My sister and I knew him for several hours before getting a ride back to our hotel from him. It's not how it sounds.

What have you learned from your past relationships?

Justina

Justina: I learned of wild love and of patience. With this one guy that I dated, he was just uh...very sensitive and it was just so hard to deal with his anger and his emotions. I just learned to not let it phase me. And I guess with wild love...uh...let's see..with wild love...I was going through a phase where I was very spiritual and very passionate about life and when I met him I just...because I was so in love with life that I genuinely did love him but not in the same sense that I love you. The best word is carefree, carefree love. He showed me that, but I also learned of what deep and knowing love is.

Chasen

Chasen: Communication. It seems rather short and to the point but communication has been a huge factor in the success, but I guess in this case, the failures in my past two relationships, and there were so many things that would normally go unsaid, albeit on both sides, and not having those feelings or thoughts expressed definitely led to complications down the line. So one thing that I exercise more than most things with you is that we get everything out in the open, 'cause I know there's a lot of things that you'll keep kind of buried and will fester in your mind unless I rip them out and bring them into the light...haha

What three things would you bring along to a deserted island?

Justina

Justina: If I could choose anything? An endless supply of food, a plane.....
Chasen: Okay something you know how to operate 'cause you don't know how to fly..
Justina: Well in this situation I do....heh....a good book, a cup of coffee...I can't do this you know I can't do this, this is a test of my survival skills! Uh a rope, a knife.....seeds, lots of seeds.

Chasen

Justina: Don't you dare take me. I'm happy at home.
Chasen: Haha, a good multi-tool, a reliable knife, um...do I want a firestarter...I know I can start fires without one...oh! And a telescope. I can see things from far away and could also use it to start a fire.

What is one thing that people do that most annoys you?

Chasen

Chasen: Non-compliant patients. To go more in depth with that one, basically patients that have specific ailments and strict regimens, either medication wise or diet wise, that should be followed and they choose not to do it anyways, and leads to further complications of said ailment or disease. It bugs the living daylights out of me. It's like, oh Mr. Smith, you're back in for hypertension again...It's like oh my gosh, we're going to see the same bloody person over and over again.

Justina

Justina: Oh gosh I don't know about "most annoys me"..uh...I want to say...okay the first thing that comes to mind is when people who don't give up the seat on the bus for elderly people or disabled people. Like that really upsets me.

What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?

Chasen

Chasen: Uh...having to manage and deal with a family of five who was dead on arrival on a freeway at 5 o'clock in the morning.

Justina

Justina: Oh mine's embarrassing now. Okay, the last experience that made me a stronger person was having to say goodbye to you at the airport, and then every day after that. For a while it just seemed like everything was getting worse and worse. I felt like I wasn't fit to handle it anymore, and then eventually things were looking up again, and I realized that being in a long distance relationship is so hard, actually it's a lot more harder for me to handle. Each time saying goodbye gets harder and I guess the fact that I can stand up again and not fall into the abyss, I guess that's what made me stronger. I am stronger because of that.

What event in history would you change if you could travel back in time?

Justina

Justina: Oh the first thing that comes to mind, oh it's terrible. The absolute first thing that came to my mind was the holocaust, the second thing was the war between Japan and China,   and then the last thing I just thought of was the invasion of European people to...I guess Canada and America. Among many, many others...but that wasn't the question I had to choose one and I chose three.
Chasen: So what's the one?
Justina: ugh frick, oh this is good! Adam and Eve, I wish Eve didn't take the apple hahaha

Chasen

Chasen: Not that this has anything to do with my heritage but, stopping the dropping of the bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Justina: Ohhh, that's a good one. But, but if we stopped Eve from taking the apple that would never have happened.
Chasen: You could argue that nothing would have happened if Eve didn't...

What did you think the first time you met my mother and father

Justina

Justina: I was thinking, "I'm really nervous. Okay they see me now. Is what I'm wearing okay? They're looking at me. They look really nice but I don't know I'm scared. They're looking at me so much. I hope this goes well."...The whole time I was just so self-conscious. I felt like they could see right through me. The thing is I've never felt that with any of the parents of the guys I've dated. With others it was just "hi!" and with your parents I just felt like "holy crap they know exactly who I am, I feel so naked right now, I'm wearing clothes but I feel so naked."

Chasen

Chasen: When I met your dad for the first time, first and only time on skype, you can't help but admit it was a little bit awkward, especially when your uncle brought up the whole marriage thing and your dad pulling into it and your dad kind of going like, "okay if you have anything to ask me, regarding Justina, you're going to have to ask me in Chinese, otherwise I won't understand you." It's like, for a first meeting, that's a little intimidating a little nerve-wracking you have to admit that, no one ever gets that on their first meeting. I thought that I hoped that there wasn't a language barrier for one. Two, I was hoping that I was going to make a good impression, I was really thinking, "man I really hope he likes me."

With your mom, aunt, grandmother...that wasn't so much nerve-wracking as it was me worrying about doing something that could be deemed as something I guess as offensive or inappropriate, disrespectful, just because there was a bit of culture shock you know, there are things that I'm not really aware of, so uh, I'm sure you noticed too, I was a little uptight, or the way your mom put it, she said I needed to relax. I felt like I needed to be prepared and be on the defensive.

  7. Justina, what a sweet idea! I laughed at the desert island answer-- "Don't you dare take me. I'm happy at home."

Also, what a cute photo to go with this cute post. I'm def. going to have to do this with my husband, especially now that it's harder to go out to eat (forget the movies!) since Felix (speaking of my 4 month old... your compliments always make my day!)
